on my way to grand canyon...

zunächst gehts entlang der küste nach santa barbara - ein schmuckes städtchen...

to begin with i´m driving along the coast to santa barbara - a neat little city...

für meine partnerbank-freunde: in diesem netten häuschen samt angeschlossenem minipark mit springbrunnen ist merrill lynch untergebracht - ich dachte, das wäre ein angemessener ort ... na, ja, den ami-banken geht´s ja eh net besonders gut!

auf halber strecke übernachte ich im "route 66 motel" in barstow, einem ort im niemandsland...

half the way i´m staying in the "route 66 motel" in barstow, a village in no man´s land...


...hab ich eigentlich nicht geplant, aber die haben alles so liebevoll dekoriert - sehr einladend!

actually it was not my intention, but they had such a nice scenery set - very inviting!


...und dann habe ich noch zwei sehr nette ehepaare aus michigan kennen gelernt! im gespräch stellte sich heraus, dass die vorfahren der einen dame aus illmitz stammen - ja, ja, die welt ist wirklich klein!
die (pensionierten) herrschaften sind schon einige zeit auf der route 66 mit ihren oldtimer-cabrios unterwegs, einfach lässig!

...and there i met two very nice couples from michigan! under discussion it turned out that the one lady descends from relatives of illmitz (austria, burgenland!) - yeah, the world´s really small!
the (retired) couples have been travelling on route 66 with their oldtimer cabriolets for quite a time, that´s easy-going!

...und schon gehts wieder weiter ... wo bleibt er nur, der grand canyon?

...i´m on the road again...but where is the grand canyon?
