die wolken hängen tief, es regnet ... es ist herbst, keine frage!

low rain clouds...no doubt, it´s fall!


haleakala (house of the sun)
ich besuche den heiligen berg der hawaiianer, ein 3000 meter hoher vulkan, und verbringe unbeschreiblich schöne stunden...

i´m visiting the holy mountain of the hawaiians, a 10.000 ft high vulcano, and i´m spending gorgeous hours...


´ahinahina (silversword)
diese entfernte verwandte der sonnenblume wächst nur hier auf hawaii. und ähnlich der agave blüht sie nur ein einziges mal in ihrem leben - nachdem sie ihre samen verstreut hat, stirbt sie! dies ist eines der letzten blühenden exemplare!

this distant relative of the sunflower, which is found only here in hawaii, blossoms just once in its live (like the agave) - after the plant went to seed it dies! this is one of the last silverswords with blossoms!


die landschaft ist wahrlich beeindruckend...

wir wandern in einer mondlandschaft...

noch haben wir den aufstieg vor uns ... insgesamt wandern wir heute an die 20 km!

the ascent is still ahead ... all in all we´re hiking a distance of approximately 13 miles!
