ANGKOR WAT - wörtl. übersetzung: königliche stadt, die ein kloster ist (translation: royal town, which is a temple)im 10. jh. erblühte das KHMER-reich ... durch die errichtung zahlreicher bewässerungsanlagen konnte das ganze jahr über reis angebaut und geerntet werden ... das dadurch entstandene vermögen wurde u.a. in tempelanlagen investiert. könig SURYAVARMAN II. bestieg 1010 den thron des KHMER-reiches und vereinte fast ganz KAMBUJA (kambodscha), ließ weitere tempelanlagen (u.a. angkor wat) errichten und die vorhandenen restaurieren. der tempel war der gottheit VISHNU gewidmet ... mit der sich könig suryavarman II. identifizierte...der tempel diente also auch gleichzeitig als sein mausoleum!
mit dem einzug der thais (1430) begann der stete verfall dieser großartigen bauten...

es wimmelt nur so von touristen...the temple site is crawled with tourists...

ah, farbe ... in all dem grau in grau!ah, color ... in these shades of grey!
ja, nicht nur die tempelanlagen sind "grau", auch der himmel ist bedeckt ... und es hat eine hitze, unvorstellbar ... für jeden halben liter wasser, den ich trinke, schwitze ich mindestens eineinhalb liter aus jeder, wirklich jeder pore!yeah, not only the temples are "grey", the sky is overcast, too ... and it´s hot, you can´t imagine ... for every half a litre water i´m drinking i´m sweating one and a half litre out of every, really every pore!
die lichtverhältnisse sind leider nicht optimal ... die fotos spiegeln in keinster weise die schönheit der tempel wider ...the light conditions are not optimal ... the pictures in no way are reflecting the beauty of the temples...
und ehrlich gesagt ... ich bin auch schon ein wenig müde vom vielen herumlaufen ... ich gehe jetzt zu meinem moto-driver und lasse mich ins gästehaus bringen ... auf ein bier und ein gutes abendessen!and honestly ... i´m quite tired of walking around ... now i´m going back to my moto-driver, he will bring me to the guesthouse ... where i´m going to have a beer and a delicious dinner!

TA PROHM - tempel von BRAHMA, dem ahnen (temple of BRAHMA, the ancestor)1186 von JAYAVARMAN VII. zu ehren seiner mutter errichtet - während seiner regierungszeit lebten in diesem tempel an die 13.000 menschen!

nach der amtszeit von jayavarman wurde der tempel dem dschungel überlassen ...after the reign of jayavarman VII. the temple was left to the jungle...
