napa valley, day 2

bevor ich meinen 2. tag in napa valley starte, organisiere ich eine halbwegs günstige unterkunft und bekomme wieder einen spitzen-tipp: das hotel GAIA ist ganz neu und legt großen wert auf umweltverträglichkeit, sparsamkeit im umgang mit den ressourcen ... und gehört einem taiwanesen! ist eigentlich eine schande für die amis - aber wie gesagt, die bekommen sicher den ersten preis in sachen abfallproduktion.

before i´m starting my second day in napa valley i´m organizing a reasonably priced accomodation and once again i get an excellent advice: the hotel GAIA is brand-new and sets a high value on environmental impact and an economical handling with nature´s resources ...and it´s owned by a taiwanese! shame on the americans - but as i said: the americans will receive the winner´s price for producing waste.

im innenhof des hotels befindet sich ein teich mit zwei schwänen ... hier kann man wahrlich gut entspannen!

in the courtyard of the hotel there´s a pond with two swans ... here you can relax perfectly!




das weingut DOMAINE CARNEIROS
bekannt für exzellenten champagner ... aber ich widerstehe - 1. ist es vormittag und 2. bin ich mit dem auto unterwegs!

wo kein wein wächst, wird auch nicht bewässert ... und dieses bild ist typisch für kalifornien - der beiname "the golden state" wird nicht nur mit den goldgräberzeiten in verbindung gebracht sondern auch mit der farbe der grasbedeckten berge...den letzten regen gab es im april!

where´s no vine there´s no irrigation ... this picture is characteristic of california - not only is the nickname "the golden state" related to the times of the gold-diggers but also to the color of the grassy mountains...the last rain they had in april!

...und wenn du genügend zeit zur verfügung hast, dann kannst du einfach nichts tun ...

and if there´s enough time on your hands you´re simply doing nothing...
