before leaving this awesome country i wanna talk about my impressions ...
die australier (die ich kennenlernte) sind herzlich, hilfsbereit, bodenständig, humorvoll ... und lieben ihr land! ich habe mich hier von anfang an wohl gefühlt ...the australians (whom i met) are cordially, helpful, down-to-earth, have a big sense of humor ... and love their country! i´ve been feeling comfortable from the very beginning...
... und selbst sydney, eine 4 millionen stadt, vermittelt eher ferienstimmung als hartes berufsleben. ich war auf anhieb begeistert von dieser stadt und ihrem flair! ... and even sydney with its 4 million inhabitants gives you more a feeling of holiday than of a tough business-life! at first go i fell in love with this city and its flair!
und welche wohltat ... in australien gibt´s eine richtige kaffee-kultur! einfach köstlich!und what a benefit ... the australians have a real "coffee-culture"! delicious!
ans linksfahren habe ich mich schnell gewöhnt, obwohl ... ehrlich, schaut das nicht komisch aus? nachdem ja auch scheibenwischer und blinker "vertauscht" sind, war das schon eine schwierigere konzentrationsaufgabe!
und wenn du als fussgänger die straße überquerst, musst du zuerst mal nach RECHTS schauen ... bedarf auch einer gewissen umgewöhnung! da merkt man wieder mal, wie wir alle konditioniert sind!
i got easily used to driving on the left side, but ... honestly, that looks strange, doesn´t it?
and don´t forget the windshield wipers and indicators are "interchanged", this was a much more difficult task!
and if you´re a pedestrian crossing the street for the first you have to look to the RIGHT ... you´ve to get accustomed to it! i recognized once again: the humans are conditioned!
wenn du von amerika kommst, dann schluckst du mal kurz angesichts dieser straßen ... autobahnen gibt es so gut wie keine!when you come over from the united states you´ve to put up with the roads ... motorways (freeways) are hardly to find!
wenn man auf österreichs straßen auf hasen und rehe achten muss, dann sind das in australien känguruhs oder kasuare (riesenvögel, die nicht fliegen aber dafür umso schneller laufen können - habe gott sei dank keinen getroffen)!if you have to be aware of rabbits and deer on austrian roads, then the australian drivers have to be attentive to kangaroos and cassowaries (these are huge birds which aren´t able to fly but the faster they´re running - heaven´s sake i didn´t meet any)!
gut, wenn selbst die straßenarbeiter mit dem rad unterwegs sind (und das noch dazu schieben!) ... kann das ja nichts werden mit den autobahnen!okay, if the roadmen themselves are on the way by bike (and besides he is walking the bike!) ... then it´s going to be difficult for further freeways!
wenn schon keine autobahnen wie in den staaten, dann wenigstens ein mc donald´s ... und der dafür überall! ja, junk food kennt keine grenzen!but if there are no freeways comparable with those in the states then at least a mc donald´s ... and there are lots of it almost everywhere! yeah, there are no borders for junk food!
die sogenannten "küsten-australier" (lugersche bezeichnung!) lieben das wasser und alle damit verbundenen sportarten, allem voran das surfen!the socalled "beach-australians" (luger´s notation!) love the water and all kind of sports connected with it - most of all surfing!
wenn du gerade nicht im wasser bist, dann musst du dich an die fliegen gewöhnen, die sind nämlich super-penetrant!if you´re not in the water at the moment then you´ve to get used to the flies, they´re quite obstrusive!
vögel gibt es in australien unzählige und die machen einen lärm, unglaublich - dieser hier, genannt kookaburra - lachender hans, klingt wie ein leicht angeheiteter, der alles witzig findet!in australia you can find lots of different birds and they´re making noise, incredible - this one, the cookaburra, sounds like a tipsy guy, who can laugh about everything!
känguruhs - meine absoluten favouriten! die australier lieben sie ja nicht so (du kriegst auch känguruh-wurst, die lieben sie schon mehr!) - und wenn du den bruce-highway entlang fährst, dann siehst du leider sehr viele tote känguruhs und wallabys (kleinere känguruhs) ... sie verhalten sich ähnlich wie unsere hasen und rehe, leider ein wenig unberechenbar!
kangaroos, my absolute favorites!
the australians don´t love them that much (you can find some kangaroo-sausage in the supermarkets, this one they prefer!) - and when you´re driving along the bruce highway then you can see a lot of dead kangaroos and wallabies (smaller kangaroos) ... they behave like our rabbits and deer, unfortunately notpredictable!
der regenwald ... eine wunderbare fremde welt!the rainforest ... an amazing strange world!
die flüsse wirken friedlich ... wenn es wärmer wird, dann allerdings sollte man die nähere umgebung meiden ... ihr ahnt es schon ... die krokodile!the rivers seem so peaceful ... but when it´s getting warmer you should avoid these areas ... you´re guessing ... the crocodiles!
und nun zur insel-, strand- und wasserwelt ... der hauptgrund, wieso die ostküste australiens so beliebt ist!FRASER ISLAND ... eine der absoluten hauptattraktionen ... diese insel besteht nur aus sand und besitzt neben herrlichen stränden auch die schönsten süßwasser-seen!
and now we turning to the world of islands, beaches and the sea ... the main reason why so many people are coming to the east coast of australia!
FRASER ISLAND ... one of the principal magnets of tourism ... this island consists only of sand und by the way there are the most beautiful freshwater lakes!
GREAT KEPPEL ISLAND ... wenn man diese strände sieht und sie dann noch dazu menschenleer erlebt, kann man das als griechenland- und italienerprobter urlauber sehr schwer verstehen!GREAT KEPPEL ISLAND ... if you see these beaches and when there´s absolutely nobody, you hardly can believe that ... used to the beaches of italy or greece!
sonnenuntergänge sind ja an sich nichts besonderes, jeder urlauber bringt sie in umengen mit nach hause ... es ist eher für einen selbst eine schöne erinnerung ... du verbindest damit alle gerüche, musik, die menschen, mit denen zusammen bist ... erst dann ist ein sonnenuntergang-foto wieder etwas besonders!sunsets are nothing very special, everyone returning from a summer holiday brings a lot of sunset pictures with him ... it´s a wonderful reminiscence of all the smells, the music, the people you´ve been together ... not till then a sunset picture is something special!
die ostküste ist ein einziger "strandtraum" - kilometer über kilometer herrlichste sandstrände mit palmen ... wie wir es aus den hochglanz-broschüren kennen!the east coast is just one "dream of a beach" - kilometres of beautiful sandy beaches with palmtrees ... as we know it from the high gloss brochures!
ein aufenthalt AM meer kann nur mehr getoppt werden durch eine bootsfahrt ...a stay AT the beach can only be outreached by a trip on a boat ...
. ..und ... ja, und einem besuch des GREAT BARRIER REEFs - das war wirklich das absolute highlight meine australien-besuches! unbeschreiblich schön!... and ... yeah, and a visit at the GREAT BARRIER REEF - this was my absolute highlight of my visit to australia! what an undescribable beauty!
