saturday morning - pleasant weather and quiet streets!
the bags are packed - let´s start new adventures!
this probably exists only in japan - little plastic rabbits serve as protection for construction sites!
while we´re waiting for ms. matsumoto we´re studying the underground´s map - step by step we get the hang!
then crossing the gate and finding the right train platform...
many japanese wear too large shoes - after a few days of watching i reasoned: they like to walk with slippers - shoes which are too large can be used as slippers!
bahnsteig 14 - kyoto steht auf der anzeigetafel,
es kann losgehen!
gate 14 - kyoto at the destination board, we´re ready to rock and roll!
the fuji (vulcano, jap.) ist with its 3776m the highest mountain of japan. since 2013 it is part of unesco´s world cultural heritage
i was totally delighted that i could see this impressive mountain through the train´s window!

oooh, a man with bow legs!

o-mijuki - these are small slips of paper with oracles.
if you tie them to a tree near the temple, the good messages will come true!

hermann is lighting an incense stick...

a japanese beauty dressed in a traditional kimono - many japanese come to kyoto and visit the old temples dressed in borrowed kimonos...

it is deeply impressive seeing those old temples, the huge wooden roofs, artfully graved, the thick pillars...

dog´s mum on sightseeing tour with her children...

i wanna come along, too!

heaven´s sake, there are a lot of vending machines in japan!

green tea is used for almost everything in japan!

candies in small format!

in the evening people meet at the river kamo, either for ambling alongside the river...

...or sitting at the riverside...

...or having dinner at one of the countless restaurants!

a venetian palace in kyoto...

in return these ladies are dressed in proper style - in japanese traditional costumes!

japanese wedding slippers!

saturday evening in kyoto...

kobe beef with steamed vegetable - hermann seems to be satisfied!

sunday morning, i take a tour around the hotel and what do i see - a wedding in a catholic church (in japan!)

there is coming the wedding car...

look at the pretty wedding couple!

charming!

hermann is having a sunday walk, too...

japanese gardeners cut the grass with scissors - no wonder that they have to work on sundays, too!

we´re strolling through an apparently endless shopping street...

fermented vegetable - kyoto is famous for it!

above all the radish tastes incredibly good!

plenty of delectabilities - our eyes bugged out!

small tasters out of a variety of fermented vegetable...

kleine teigbällchen mit oktopus...
wir haben sie verkostet, mmhhh!
what´s that?
small doughballs with octopus...
we tried it, mmmhhh!

dried tuna...

...is grated - and the result is named bonito-flakes!

so many things to see...
