und nun ein paar worte zum volk der NAXI
lijiang ist seit ca. 1400 jahren der hauptort des naxi-volkes, das seinen ursprung in tibet hat. dieses volk verfügt seit mehr als 1000 jahren über eine eigene sprache und eine eigene schrift ... und lebt überwiegend in matriarchatsähnlichen strukturen!
ich wusste ja, das muss einen grund haben, wieso dies ein so friedlicher ort ist (und jetzt bitte von seiten der männlichen leser weder ein doofes grinsen noch sonstige gesichtsentgleisungen!)

und now a few words about the people of NAXI
lijiang is the centre of the naxi people for more than 1400 years, they´re originated in tibet. this people has its own language and also written language for 1000 years approximately ... and is living in a matrilineal structure!
i knew that there´s a reason for this town being so peaceful (and please - of all men who´re reading this i´m expecting not one shit-eating grin or any lapse of your facial expression!)

wenn die frauen einen liebhaber haben, dann darf dieser im haus der frau übernachten, tagsüber muss er aber wieder zu seiner familie zurück. haus und grund - erbfolge ist weiblich, alle wichtigen entscheidungen werden von den frauen getroffen und selbst die sprache zeigt starke matriarchalische züge: wird einem hauptwort das naxi-wort für weiblich angefügt, so gewinnt der ausdruck an wert bzw. umfang, im gegensatz - durch hinzufügen von "männlich" wird die bedeutung reduziert ... so z.b. das wort stein - weibl. felsblock, männl. kieselstein!
ja,ja, ich weiss, wieso ich mich hier gar so wohl fühle, hihi!

if a woman has a boyfriend, he is allowed to stay at the woman´s house over night - during the day he has to return to his parents. women inherit all properties and all the important decisions are made by women. even the language shows matriarchal influence: nouns enlarge their meaning if the word "female" is added and decrease their meaning by adding the word "male" ... for example the word stone - female=boulder, male=pebble!
yeah, i know why i´m feeling so good in this town, hihi!

das traditionelle gewand der naxi-frau besteht aus blauer hose und jacke, darüber tragen sie eine art cape in t-form, das den himmel repräsentieren soll. tag und nacht werden durch eine dunkle und eine helle seite dargestellt, sieben gestickte kreise repräsentieren die sterne. die praktische komponente ... dieses cape dient auch als schutz vor abschürfungen durch die schweren körbe, die die frauen trugen und noch immer tragen!

the traditional costume of the naxi woman consists of blue trousers and a blouse, covered by a t-shaped cape, which symbolizes the heaven. day and night are represented by a dark and a light halve of the cape. seven embroidered circles symbolize the stars. there´s also a practical aspect .. the cape stops the back from chafing as a result of carrying the heavy baskets!

mein letzter abend in lijiang ... und ich habe glück, diese nette naxi-frau hilft mir bei der auswahl typischer naxi-gerichte und der sympatische junge mann ist polizist - da bin ich in bester gesellschaft ... und wir hatten viel spass bei unserer "kommunikation"!

my last day in lijinag ... and i had good luck, this nice naxi-woman helped me to choose original naxi-dishes and this friendly chinese is a police-man - so i was in best company .. and we had much fun with our "communication"!

das ist ein so monumentaler berg, selbst aus dem flugzeug ist der eindruck überwältigend...

this is such a monumental mountain, even out of the plane the impression is breathtaking...



die altstadt von LIJIANG, 1997 zum weltkulturerbe ernannt
nach dem schweren erdbeben von 1996 wurden viele gebäude zerstört (interessanterweise blieben die uralten holzkonstruktionen unversehrt!!) und wieder neu (in alter holzbauweise - sehr klug!) errichtet

the old town of LIJIANG, since 1997 it is part of the UN´s world heritage list
after the earthquake of 1996 most of the buildings were destroyed (interesting that the old wooden construction were not affected!) and then rebuilt (in the same way as the old ones - very clever!)

es tummeln sich hunderte touristen in den engen gassen ... und trotzdem liegt eine friedlichkeit über dieser stadt

there are hundreds of tourists in the narrow roads ... nevertheless there´s peace lying over the town






dieser berg ist einfach sensationell ... vergebt mir die vielen aufnahmen, die noch folgen ... aber das muss einfach sein!

this mountain is just sensational ... please forgive me the lots of following pictures ... but this just has to be!





na, was gibt´s da zum schauen ...

ich hoffe, du wirst heute nicht verkocht ... ich versuche ja, vegetarisch zu essen - was hier (wie fast überall auf der welt) nicht ganz richtig verstanden wird: habe gestern reis mit gemüse geordert ... was finde ich da zwischen den karottenstückerln ... speck!

i hope, the dog will not be cooked today ... i´m trying to eat vegetarian food - that´s quite difficult (as almost everywhere around the world): yesterday i ordered rice with vegetable ... and what do i find between the carrots ... bacon!

heute wandere ich auf den "elefanten-hügel" - na gut, hügel ist das gerade keiner ... aber im vergleich zum jadedrachen schneeberg, o.k.! ein blick zurück von halber höhe!

today i´m hiking to the "elephant-hill" - in my opinion this is not a hill ... but compared with the jade dragon snow mountain, ok.!

der anstieg hat sich aber mehr als gelohnt ... der blick auf den jadedrachen schneeberg ist atemberaubend!

nach erfolgreicher betätigung der chinesischen waschmaschine (mein üblicher "versuch und irrtum - ansatz" bewährt sich auch in china!!) hängt die frisch gewaschene wäsche zum trocknen in der warmen frühlingsluft!

after a successful laundry with a chinese washing machine ( my usual "try and error - approach" is working in china, too!!) my clothes are hung up to dry in the warm spring air!

YUANTONG temple

diese 1200 jahre alte tempelanlage, wo auch noch buddhistische mönche leben, ist die größte in kunming...

this 1200 year old temple is the largest buddhist complex in kunming and there are still monchs living in...




1985 ernannte die chinesische regierung diesen tempel zu einem der wichtigsten buddhistischen zentren in china

with the approval of the state council this temple was listed as one of the key buddhist temples in 1985

im mittelpunkt der anlage steht dieser achteckige pavillon, erbaut während der ming dynastie (1368-1644)

im süden von kunming liegt der DIAN see, ein beliebtes erholungsgebiet der städter

south of kunming there´s lake DIAN, a very popular recreation area for the urban people






kein wunder, hier gibt es eine vielzahl romantischer plätze...

no wonder, here you can find a lot of romantic places...







und nachdem ich die einzige exotin in kunming bin, wollten diese chinesischen studenten unbedingt ein foto mit mir machen...
es passiert mir allenthalben, dass mich vor allem die älteren leute bestaunen (ich spaziere ja auch in gegenden herum, wo sicher kein tourist hinkommt!) und die jungendlichen mich mit "hello" grüßen ... entgegen aller vorwarnungen, wie unfreundlich die chinesen sind, habe ich sehr positive erfahrungen gemacht - die leute lächeln mich an, bieten mir hilfe an und die kinder versuchen sich in ihren englisch-kenntnissen! während einer heimfahrt mit dem bus hat mich ein bub unentwegt beobachtet und dann auf einmal kommt er auf mich zu und fragt mich "how are you", "how old are you", "do you like chocolate", immer wieder dazwischen stark angestrengt nachdenkend ... ich war total gerührt!

i´m the only exotic person in kunming, therefore these young chinese students are eager to take a picture with me...
most of the time i´m marveled at especially by the older people (okay, i´m walking around in regions where there´s normally no tourist!) and the teenagers are greeting me "hello" ... against all warnings about the rude chinese people i only had positive experiences - the people are smiling at me, they offer their help and the kids are practizing their first english knowledge! during a bus trip back to my apartment a boy was gazing at me all the time and then suddenly he came straight ahead towards me and asked me "how are you", "how old are you", "do you like chocolate", in between i could watch him intensively thinking ... i was deeply touched!

da sind wahre profis am werk ... die lassen drachen so hoch steigen, dass du sie mit freiem auge gerade noch erkennen kannst ... kein hindenken, ein foto zu erhaschen!

here you can see real professionals ... they´re flying their kites so high that you hardly see them with the naked eye ... no way for taking a picture!



kunming wird dem namen "frühlingsstadt" auch wirklich gerecht - überall stehen arrangements mit hunderten blumentöpfen!

kunming meets its name "spring city" - everywhere you can find hundreds of flowerpots!





ja, die technik macht auch nicht vor den klostertüren halt - großartig!

yeah, tecnical influence doesn´t stop even in front of the doors of a buddhist monastery - great!
