ich habe mich ende juli 2007 aufgemacht ... auf eine reise rund um die welt und zu mir. nie zuvor bin ich alleine gereist, nie zuvor verbrachte ich mehr als 3 wochen ausser landes und die bislang entfernteste destination war marokko.
ich verliess meine heimat ohne erwartungen und vorurteile, mit offenem herz und wachsamen augen ... und kam so reich beschenkt nach hause zurück.
by the end of july, 2007, i started my trip around the world and to myself.
never before i traveled on my own, never before i spent more than 3 weeks abroad and morocco was the farest destination until then.
i left my home country without expectations and prejudices, with an open heart and beady-eyed ... and i came home so richly rewarded.
loslassen, abschied nehmen ... nicht anzuhaften ... an menschen, die ich lieb gewonnen habe ... das war kapitel 1 der ersten großen lektion, die ich nach 2 monaten mit den nolascos und meinen klassenkameraden in san francisco zu lernen hatte. es sollten noch einige kapitel folgen - ich habe auf meiner reise so viele wundervolle menschen kennen gelernt, die mein herz berührten und mein leben so sehr bereicherten.
to release, to say good bye ... not to get attached ... to people i became fond of ... this was chapter 1 of my first big lesson i had to learn with the nolascos and my classmates in san francisco. several chapters were about to follow ... during my travels i met so many wonderful people, who touched my heart and enriched my life so deeply.
der grand canyon ist atemberaubend schön ... ich fühlte die unendlichkeit, die ewigkeit, das hier und jetzt und ... eine tiefe dankbarkeit.

golden gate bridge und sydney opera house ...auch wenn ich die natur den städten vorziehe - san francisco und sydney sind absolut lebenswerte städte - beide liegen an einer meeresbucht, die menschen sind (scheinbar) weniger hektisch und all die vielen nationalitäten führen eine weitestgehend friedliche koexistenz. vielleicht mag dies mein oberflächlicher eindruck sein, aber der hass gegen jedwede ausländer, der einem in der heimat entgegenschlägt, tut in der seele weh.
golden gate bridge and sydney opera house ...although i prefer the nature to cities - san francisco and sydney are absolutely worth living - both of them are situated at a bay, the people seem to be less hectic and all those different nationalities are living in a peaceful coexistence. that may be my superficial impression ... but the xenophobia in my home country is cutting me to the quick.

es gibt 9 millionen fahrräder in kunming (im original: beijing! gesungen von katie melua ... empfehlenswert!) und nochmals soviele elektromotorroller!

alles, was räder (oder so etwas ähnliches) hat, tummelt sich auf den straßen chinas ...every vehicles with wheels (or something comparable) is moving in the streets of china ...
... und die verkehrsmittel, im speziellen mopeds, werden von mindestens drei leuten genutzt!... and the means of tranport, especially the motorcycles, are used by at least 3 persons!
wie viele menschen in, am und auf diesem kleintransporter unterwegs (in Laos) sind ... ich weiss es nicht!how many people are travelling in, at and on this van (in Laos) ... i don´t know!
es wimmelt nicht nur auf den straßen ... der verkehr am chao phraya in bangkok ist auch nicht ohne!not only the streets are crowded ... the traffic on the chao phraya in bangkok is not half bad, too!

auf der heimfahrt von einem harten arbeitstag, zusammengepfercht auf dieser klapperkiste - lachend! wir im glorreichen westen haben wirklich keine ahnung von einem harten alltag ... und worüber beschweren wir uns, worüber regen wir uns tagtäglich auf - anstelle jeden morgen gott zu danken, dafür, dass wir genug zu essen und trinken haben, dass wir ein dach über dem kopf haben, und, und,....on their way back home having had a tough work day, penned up on this knockmobile - laughing! we, living in the glorious west don´t have an idea of such a everyday life ... and what are we complaining about, what are we agitiating about - instead of thanking GOD every morning ... for having enough to eat and drink, having a roof over our head, and, and, ...

was soll ich sagen? ich liebe die berge! hier fühle ich das hier und jetzt, die unendlichkeit und kraft der erde. ich muss die berge nicht bezwingen, um die glückseligkeit zu spüren ... mir genügt der anblick! selten war ich so dankbar!
what shall i say? i love the mountains! here i feel the here and now, the everlastingness and the earth´s power. i don´t need to conquer the mountains for having the feeling of blessedness ... the sight will do! rarely i´ve been that grateful!

die wanderung durch den dschungel ist soo anstrengend, unsere beiden jungen führer haben ein einsehen und legen oft mal eine pause ein...the hike through the jungle is extremly exhausting, our guides showed consideration and so we could take break from time to time...

es war anstrengend - keine frage - aber ich habe mich wieder einen schritt besser kennen gelernt ... und dafür bin ich sehr, sehr dankbar!it was strenuous - no question - but i got to know myself a little bit better ... i´m very grateful in return!
