der RESCHENSEE - zwischen 1947 und 1949 wurde dieser künstliche see errichtet und dient seitdem zur stromgewinnung

LAKE RESCHEN - this man-made lake was built from 1947 to 1949 for generating electricity

viele menschen verloren ihr zuhause - der kirchturm von GRAUN erinnert daran…

many people lost their homes - the steeple of GRAUN ist left as a reminder…

wir wandern durch lichte lärchenwälder auf weichem wiesenboden…

we´re hiking through bright larch forests on soft grassy ground…

am friedhof von PLAWENN ruhen nun meine wanderstöcke - ich habe sie vergessen mitzunehmen! na, ja, ich wollte sie ohnehin am ende der wanderung entsorgen…

at the cementory of PLAWENN my hiking sticks have found their last rest - i forgot to take them with me! anyway, i planned to get rid of them by the end of our hike…

nur mehr eine halbe stunde und unser ziel des ersten tages ist erreicht…

in half an hour we will have reached our destination of the first day...

viele bunte blumen säumen unseren weg…

our trial is lined with lots of colorful flowers…

und das ist der entzückende ort PLANEIL!

wir besuchen die kirche und ich entdecke dieses alte gemälde

we visit the church and i discover this old painting

ein letzter blick auf die wunderschönen alten häuser…
heute wollen wir ganz hoch hinaus: die wirtin des gasthauses "zur gemse" hat uns empfohlen, nicht den wanderweg zu nehmen, sondern auf die spitzige lun zu wandern und über den grat zu unserem ziel des 2. tages zu wandern…

today we´re aiming high: the landlady of the inn recommended not to take the trail but climbing up the mountain "spitzige lun" and then hiking along the ridge...

am morgen ist der himmel bedeckt und die luft ist kühl…

in the morning the sky is clouded and the air is fresh...

auch die unterkunft war toll und das essen köstlich…

the accomodation was excellent, too, and the food was delicious...

es regnet - ich habe für alles vorgesorgt!

it´s raining - i have provided for every circumstance!

tief unter uns liegen der RESCHENSEE und der kleinere, natürliche HAIDERSEE

wir klettern weiter zum nächsten gipfel, das HOCHJOCH (2593m)

die letzten wolken steigen auf vom tal…

the last clouds are rising up from the valley...

geschafft - wir sind am höchsten punkt unserer heutigen wanderung!

we made it - we reached the highest spot of our today´s hike!

maria kann richtig stolz sein - denn sie ist die woche zuvor mit dem fahrrad von landeck über den reschenpass nach verona gefahren…

maria can be really proud - the week before she went by bike from landeck via reschenpass to verona…

weiter geht es über die bergrücken…

we move on along the back of the mountains...

beim abstieg verlieren wir kurz die wegmarkierung und die nerven - das kümmert diese pferde rein gar nicht…

during our way down we lost our trail mark and our nerves for a short time - of course these horses didn´t pay attention to our problem...

wir haben die markierung wieder und nun geht es bergab, bergab, bergab…
bis wir endlich unser ziel, das almhotel GLIESHOF, erreichen!

back on our trail we walk downhill, downhill, downhill…
untill we finally reach our destination - the hotel GLIESHOF!

eine wunderschöne wanderung im wald auf alten waalwegen

a wonderful hike through the forest alongside old water channels

es ist ein herrlich sonniger tag…

it´s a lovely sunny day…

… und wir genießen die gute luft, den sonnenschein, die berge und die ruhe - ohne handy, emails, facebook und co.!

… and we enjoy the fresh air, the sunshine, the mountains and the silence - without cellphone, emails, facebook and co.!

ahh, sitzen… und ein kühles bier! herz, was willst du mehr!

heute wird ein starker tag - ca. 9 stunden, 1400m aufstieg und 1200m abstieg + viel sonnenschein…

today it will be exhausting - at least 9 hours, 1400m up and 1200m downhill + lots of sunshine…

die pfeile weisen uns den weg…

the signposts give us directions...

spectacular flowers

und überall auf den steilen hängen thronen die bauernhäuser über den tälern…

and everywhere along the steep mountainsides you´ll find the farmhouses overviewing the valleys...

die arbeit der bauern wird von den städtern weder gesehen noch gewürdigt - das ist sehr traurig...

the farmer´s job is neither seen nor appreciated by the people living in cities - and that´s extremely sad...

dieses motorrad gehört einem "echten" südtiroler:
es trägt einen aufkleber mit der aufschrift "südtirol ist nicht italien"

this motorbike belongs to a "real" south-tyrolean:
its label says "south tyrol is not italy"

eine kleine rast im schatten, bevor es wieder bergauf geht…

oh dear, once more we have to descend...
we don´t have a good feeling about it...

der aufstieg war sehr anstrengend - und er war noch nicht der letzte…

the ascent was pretty strenuous - and it wasn´t the last one…

diese glockenblumen sind wahre überlebenskünstler…

these bell flowers are real survivalists...

wir haben es geschafft und sind nach 9 stunden gehzeit in unserem quartier in ST. MARTIN am KOFEL angelangt!

we made it! after a 9 hours walk we reached our destination in ST. MARTIN am KOFEL

so ein nettes zimmer!

die sonne scheint, wir sind ausgeschlafen…
und nehmen die letzte etappe in angriff - es ist bereits tag 5 unserer wanderung!

the sun is shining, we had a good night´s rest and are going about the last stage of our hike - it´s already the fifth day of our hike!

die mohnblume reckt ihren hals durch den zaun…

the poppy cranes its neck through the fence...

zügigen schrittes geht es von nun ab nur mehr bergab (1500m)!

at a speedy space it´s going down the hills (1500m)!

gott sei dank auch immer wieder durch schattige wälder… heute ist ein sehr heißer tag - im tal hat es 36°!

heaven´s sake we pass shady forests again and again…
today it´s pretty hot - in the valley the temperature is 36°c!
