1. tag 
von sant´ellero (kleiner ort in der nähe von florenz) nach consuma
über 1000 höhenmeter sind heute zu bewältigen...

1st day
from sant´ellero (a small village near florence) to consuma
more than 1000 meters difference in altitude have to be mastered...

 der rucksack ist geschultert, die sonne lacht vom himmel...

our backpack is shouldered, the sun shines...

zypressen, olivenbäume, weinreben... und dazwischen die typischen häuser italiens...

cypresses, olive trees, vines... and in between the typical italian houses...

 hier hätten wir links abbiegen sollen... ein kurzes stück später sind uns vorausgegangene pilger entgegen gekommen - auch sie haben das verrostete schild nicht bemerkt!

here we should have taken a path to the left... a little bit later we met a small group of pilgrims - they missed the rusty signpost, too!

für den bevorstehenden aufstieg müssen wir uns stärken...

we have to top up our energy before we climb up the mountains...

 ...tomate, prosciutto und herrliches ciabatta!

von nun an ging´s bergauf...

from now on we climb uphill...

maria ist unsere "guida alpina". ich bin das konditionsschwächere schlusslicht und dazwischen marschiert susi - eine einsame pilgerin, die sich uns angeschlossen hat!

mary is our "guida alpina". due to lack of physical condition i bring up the rear and inbetween there´s susi - a lonesome pilgrim, who decided to go along with us!

maria, schon wieder ausgerastet, fotografiert... wahrscheinlich mich...geschafft vom langen aufstieg!

 consuma! der erste pilgertag ohne blasen, ausgezeichnet!

capuccino und croissant... schon sind die mühen fast vergessen!

a cappuccino and a croissant... and the troubles seem almost forgotten!

unser hotel scheint bereits seit jahren in der renovierungsphase zu sein...

it seems that our hotel started its renovations years ago, still keeping on...

ein kleines bier bevor es zum abendessen geht!

friedhof in consuma - die obersten urnenfächer sind nur mit einer leiter zu erreichen...

cemetery in consuma - the upper urns can only be reached with a ladder...

als dessert bekommen wir von der wirtin gratis zur verkostung: vin santo und cantuccini
wir haben uns sehr darüber gefreut!

the landlady offered us vin santo and cantuccini for free -
it was a great pleasure!

2. tag
von consuma nach stia
heute geht es abwärts ins tal - gestern hinauf, heute hinunter!

2nd day

from consuma to stia
today we walk downhill - yesterday up, today down!

die erste hürde ist erfolgreich überwunden...

we overcame the first obstacles successfully...

auf angenehmen waldpfaden wandern wir entlang blühender ginsterbüsche...

on pleasant forest tracks we walk along blooming broom bushes...

nach getaner arbeit ist gut ruh´n!

after work i done we have a little rest!

das tagesziel ist erreicht, ich freue mich auf eine dusche!

the destination of the day is reached, i´m looking forward to having a shower!

von stia nach camaldoli
heute haben wir wieder einen steilen anstieg vor uns...


3rd day
from stia to camaldoli
today there´s a steep climb waiting for us...

stia ist ein entzückender kleiner ort, wo wir in einem entzückenden b&b genächtigt haben!

stia is a charming little village, where we stayed over night in a very nice b&b!

ein blick zurück...

wir wandern vorbei an blühenden wiesen...

we walk along blooming meadows....

die luft ist erfüllt mit dem duft von thymian und...

you can smell the scent of thyme and...

 in der kleinen kirche von lonnanno verweilen wir für ein gebet...

in the small church of lonnano we pause for a prayer...

und schon gewinnen wir an höhe...

and again we gain height...

rot-weiße markierung - wir sind am richtigen weg!

ein kloster der franziskanerinnen

a monastery of the fransiscan nuns

nachdem wir dieses schild übersehen haben und eine zeit lang auf dem falschen weg unterwegs waren, machen wir hier vor dem langen anstieg eine mittagspause!

after we went by at this sign post and walked on the wrong path for a while, we stop here for lunch before we start our long and steep climb!

es geht stetig bergauf...

consistently we walk uphill...

wohin das auge reicht - wald, wald, wald!
icht wusste nicht, dass es in italien noch so große wälder gibt...

whereever you look around ther´s forest, forest, forest!
i didn´t know that there are so large forests in italy... 

und noch immer geht es den berg nach oben...

still we´re climbing up the mountain...

ahhh, eine wohltat für unsere beine...

ahhh, a joy for our legs...

buchen im frühlingsgewand - soweit das auge reicht...

beech trees in their spring outfit - as far as you can see...

das kloster wurde 1026 von den kamaldulensern (ordenszweig der benediktiner) gegründet

this monastery was founded in 1026 by the kamaldulense monchs (they belong to the religious order of the benedictines)

die letzte halbe stunde hat es ein wenig geregnet...

the last half hour it was raining a little bit...

susi ist gut ausgerüstet - ihr kann ein wenig regen nichts anhaben!

susi is well equipped - a little bit of rain cannot harm her!

in den kleinen häuschen wohnen die mönche - auch franziskus soll hier ein paar monate (um ca. 1220) verbracht haben

the monchs live in these small houses - it is said that holy francis lived in one of these houses for a few months (1220)

wir besuchen kurz die kirche des klosters...

we make a short visit to the church of the monastery

durch den regen sammelt sich der blütenstaub in kleinen pfützen - sieht aus wie malerfarbe!

because of the rain the pollen is collected in small puddles - it looks like artists´colour

hier in der "locanda dei baroni" übernachten wir und essen herrliche nudeln (strozzapreti) mit frischen trüffeln und...nicht zu vergessen...wir trinken einen guten italienischen wein!

here at the "locanda dei baroni" we stay over night and have great noodles (strozzapreti) with fresh truffles for dinner and .... not to forget... we drink wonderful italian wine!

von camaldoli nach badia prataglia
heute gehen wir nur 8 km, aber da es sowohl etwa 500 höhenmeter hinauf und auch wieder hinunter geht, ist der heutige tag auch nicht wirklich ein ruhetag!

4th day
from camaldoli to badia prataglia
today we have to hike only 8 km, but there are almost 500 altitude difference up and down, therefore this day isn´t really  a day off!

na, da geht´s ordentlich bergauf!

omg, this is not an easy climb!

auch hier muss der sturm ziemlich gewütet haben...nicht nur bei uns in österreich!

here must have been a severe storm, too...not only in austria!

heute sind unsere akrobatischen fähigkeiten gefragt!

today our acrobatic skills are in demand!

hier im grünen buchenwald gefällt uns... und der weg ist wieder eben!

here in this green forest of beech trees we feel great...and the path is flat again!

das schild sagt, dass es noch 2h40 bis badia prataglia sind...also heute ist die zeitangabe ziemlich ungenau...wir sind schon über eine stunde unterwegs, die wanderung sollte laut buch insgesamt nur 3 stunden dauern...

die sign post shows that there are 2h40 untill we reach badia prataglia...the time specification is quite sketchy...we have been walking for more than 1 hour, as our book told us the hike should long not more than 3 hours...

...und nicht nur ich fotografiere!

unser tagesziel ist erreicht! und es ist gut, denn es beginnt gerade zu regnen!

our destination of the day is reached! and this is perfect, because it just began to rain!
